About
“It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there were no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole.” ~ Rupi Kaur
Gayle Henry received her Master's degree in Social Work from San Diego State University in 2008 & became licensed as a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in 2012. She spent many years working with adults in a variety of clinical settings ranging from residential, intensive outpatient hospital (IOP), a halfway house and county mental health. Gayle ran an Opiate Dependent Program for several years, helping people find meaning and their identity after struggling with addiction.
After this, Gayle gained experience as the primary therapist in a Chronic Pain program before transitioning to underlying issues of trauma held in the physiology. Prior to working full time in Private Practice, Gayle spent the next 5 years working in a PTSD & Trauma Recovery (IOP) Program helping civilians, Veterans and active duty members heal from traumatic wounds.
After spending a vast amount of time in traditional psychotherapy approaches alone, Gayle moved into an integrative healing approach to the treatment of trauma. She studied at SETI Institute and obtained her Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner certification in 2018. She began assisting new students at that time and currently volunteers in multiple cohorts in the US and Australia, including Master Classes Led by Peter Levine in Chronic Pain/Syndrome, Healing Transgenerational Trauma, Eye of the Needle (working with near death states) and a class on Healing Sexual Trauma. She is the Lead Assistant for Somatic Experiencing trainings held in San Diego, CA with SEI faculty Abi Blakeslee. Gayle is also an approved provider for personal sessions & individual case consultations for Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced SE students, as well as for group case consultations at the beginning level.
